The bartender was certainly friendly and accommodating, but he was also one of those guys who seemed to be easily overwhelmed by his surroundings. Service was otherwise kind of weird here. So the beer selection was OK (and a bit better than what I encountered at 4 Daughters), but again, there was nothing particularly memorable about it either. Perhaps he meant the number of tap lines, as they also had 4 or 5 wines tap, plus one pear cider. The bartender mentioned that they had over 20 different beers on tap, but I only counted 17. Otherwise, they had several beers on tap from SOB, several from 10 Barrel, a couple from walk about brewing, a couple from Lost Coast (tangerine and the white shark), coors lite and then something from Hop Valley. He let me try it, and while good, I decided I'd have a pint of SOB pils before going for a glass of the DIPA (a mistake on my part, as it turned out). They had several IPA's on tap this day, including the Worthy Imperial IPA, which the bartender told me was his favorite. Having gone thru this before at a few other beer bars in the past, I went ahead and told him that I liked IPA's and DIPA's, rather then telling him that I like just about everything other than sours and adjunct lagers (as I knew this would just prolong the discussion). I asked the bar tender what they had on tap, but he was loath to do that, noting that they had 20 plus beers on tap, and so could I just tell him what style I tended to like. As far as I can tell, KP does not keep a printed beer list (there was nothing in the food menu and the placards on the tables and bar also made no mention of the beer list). The topping and ingredients were fresh and delicious, and there was no sign of heartburn after eating it (which I often get if a pizza is greasy or uses salty, cheap ingredients).Īs for the beer selection and service, I'm not sure exactly what to say. Apparently, this place has a pretty good repuation for its pizza, and after ordering a small, dinner size pizza (10 inch popeye), I could see why. There are also several TV's as well, and so this was a comfortable enough spot to hang out with a beer, eat some pizza and watch the 2014 All Star game. There's also a moderate sized bar area straight back from the door, and the place is light and airy, and has high ceilings. The KP pub looks like a fairly typical pizzeria, but with some interesting art work on the walls (they're into the grateful dead, apparently), and a decent size dining area.
